The new registration and licensing requirement for landlords and agents under part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 will come into force from 23rd November 2015 reports

Under the branding of Rent Smart Wales the new legislation requires all landlords and agents that own or manage a rented property in Wales to register and apply for a license.  From the 23rd November this can be done via the Rent Smart Wales website (

Existing landlords will have twelve months to comply with the new legislation.  However if they wish to appoint an agent to manage their properties rather than becoming licensed themselves they must ensure that their agent is fully licensed.
