Landlord insurance clients are always interested in the state of the market. The House Price Index for April shows that sellers are increasing their asking prices despite the supply of properties for sale outstripping demand. The increase in seller numbers is not being matched by purchasers able to buy which has resulted in a jump in the number of properties on agents’ books. London remains an exception. In the capital, asking prices are being buoyed up by demand from purchasers and now average over £400,000.

Recent surveys have shown that Brits are showing increased interest in picking up property bargains in Spain and Portugal where there are plenty of unsold villas and apartments; victims of the property boom that turned to bust.
