Our landlord insurance clients are always interested in what is happening to rent levels. The letting agent group LSL Property Services plc says that average rents in England and Wales rose slightly in February to £684 per month, up 3.9% on a year before.
David Brown of LSL said: “The consistently constrained level of funding to homebuyers has bolstered demand and rents in the private rented sector during what is traditionally a slower period.”

This sounds like good news for buy to let investors; people can’t buy so they rent. Unless of course you think that property prices will go down. There is no point in seeing your rental income go up if your capital asset is reducing in value.
