Each quarter the Bank of England publishes its assessment of the mortgage market “Trends in Lending”. The latest one has just been published* and it shows the renewed strength of the buy to let sector. The Bank notes that there has been a marked increase in demand for buy to let loans recently and also an increase in the number of specialist loan products being made available by the mortgage market. However, there are still far fewer of these products than before the crisis.
There is no doubt that many reckon that this is a good time to enter the market or expand their portfolios of let property. The demand for rentals seems to be strong and in many areas of the country it is still a buyers market. Until recently people were finding it very difficult to obtain finance for buy to let projects but perhaps this is gradually changing.
