Landlord insurance clients will probably be casting envious eyes over an article in The Telegraph (17th April 2011) listing the top fifty richest towns in the country. Top of the list is Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire where the average house costs £684,474 and prices have increased by 60% in the last five years. Beaconsfield is close enough to London for commuters but there is plenty of attractive countryside nearby. Good schools are an added attraction for families. Second in the list is another Buckinghamshire town, Amersham with an average house price of £547,097 and a 61% increase in five years.
Meanwhile the country’s most expensive flat has just sold for £135.4 million. No prizes for guessing that it is not situated in one of these provincial towns but in London.
