Pre-Existing Medical Conditions
TO INCLUDE COVER FOR A PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITION
If you wish to include cover for a pre-existing medical condition this may be done by contacting us prior to effecting this insurance or undertaking a Period of
Travel.
As standard, this Insurance excludes Pre-Existing Medical Conditions known to you at the time of taking out this insurance or prior to the date of booking the trip,
whichever is the later. Cover for these conditions will only be provided following referral to and acceptance from AIS Direct with a medical reference number noted on your schedule of insurance.
You will not be covered under Section 1 (Trip Cancellation and Disruption), Section 2 (Medical and other Expenses) and Section 3 (Personal Accident) if you fail to, or
choose not to, contact us concerning a pre-existing medical condition.
A PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITION IS DEFINED AS:
Any medical condition which has been suffered, or for which medical advice, treatment or medication has been received within the 12 months prior to the time of
taking out this insurance or prior to the date of booking the trip, whichever the later, or on a hospital waiting list for in-patient treatment.
This definition is applicable to the health of you, your relatives, your travelling companions, or anyone whose ill health would force you to cancel or cut short
your trip.
Please note that we may not cover all conditions and that special terms may be applied to your insurance - This will NOT affect the premium.

There is no charge for this service if you do not wish to accept the special terms and cancel your insurance. However, you are responsible for all costs incurred
in obtaining any medical reports required by us.
AFTER REFERRAL TO AIS DIRECT - MEDICAL REFERRAL NUMBER AIS will issue you with a reference number that we require you to either: enter next to the persons name on
the insured details page if buying online (To do this, simply tick the yes box for a medical number and enter the relevant referral reference number.); or take
note pass to us if purchasing by phone. This should be completed for ALL referrals.
GENERAL MEDICAL CONDITION EXCLUSIONS
This insurance excludes any trip that is booked or commenced contrary to medical advice or after receipt of a terminal prognosis or wholly or partly for the
purpose of obtaining medical treatment or convalescent care.
RECIPROCAL HEALTH AGREEMENTS - WAIVER OF EXCESS UNDER SECTION B (Medical Expenses)
Travellers to European Union countries should obtain form EHIC from their local Post Office. This will entitle them to benefit from the reciprocal health
agreements, which exist between certain European countries. In the event of a claim being accepted for medical expenses which has been reduced by the use of a
form EHIC, or Private Health Insurance, the deduction of Excess under Section B will not apply. Travellers to Australia should enrol with Medicare on arrival
(information details at www.medicareaustralia.gov.au).
