Obtaining travel insurance to include pre-existing medical conditions is often difficult.

If you have pre-existing medical conditions that you wish to cover it is possible to declare these online using the CityBond SureTravel medical screening facility, and find out if the condition can be covered under the policy you want to arrange.

TO INCLUDE COVER FOR A PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITION

After you have obtained a quotation and selected any optional covers available you will have the opportunity to add medical conditions for each insured person. If a condition can be covered you will have the option to pay an additional sum to include it in your policy. Alternatively you have the option to continue to purchase the policy and not include the cover for the declared condition.

If you do not declare a pre-existing medcial condition and pay any additional sum payable, it will not be covered under this insurance.

Please refer to the policy wording for guidance as to what is defined as a medical condition.

OTHER GENERAL EXCLUSIONS RELATING TO MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Travel insurance will exclude any trip that is booked or commenced contrary to medical advice or after receipt of a terminal prognosis or wholly or partly for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment or convalescent care.

RECIPROCAL HEALTH AGREEMENTS

In the event of a claim being accepted for medical expenses which has been reduced by the use of a form EHIC, or Private Health Insurance, the deduction of excess may not apply.

Travellers to Australia should enrol with Medicare on arrival (information details at www.medicareaustralia.gov.au).
