Offical Partner of FCO KBYG
CLICK4QUOTE.COM are pleased to announce that we have been accepted as an official partner to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) ‘Know Before You Go’ campaign.Launched in 2001, ‘Know Before You Go’ is an ongoing travel safety campaign run by the FCO. It encourages British nationals to be better prepared for their overseas trips with a view to avoiding common travelling traumas, risks and dangers
The key campaign message is simple and applies to everyone - Know Before You Go – get travel insurance, research your destination including local laws and customs, visit your GP at least six weeks before travelling overseas and make copies of important travel documents.
Many UK travellers are unnecessarily putting themselves at risk, simply by failing to make the right preparations before they go abroad. Whilst catering to all UK travellers, KBYG research has shown that particular groups of travellers experience unique consular problems.
For example, younger travellers are the least prepared amongst UK travellers and efforts to communicate to them have been made through gap year specialist travel companies, universities, and through our GoGapYear.com website (relaunched in September 2006). Hen and Stag Party goers are another niche group who cause a disproportionate amount of consular problems because they are often ill prepared before they travel to their destination.
The campaign reached tens of thousands of people through national and regional publications including The Sun, The Observer, The Times, The Manchester Evening News and the Bristol Evening News, with our press release on Britons on overseas Hen and Stag parties following research we conducted into the issue.
The key messages of the campaign are:
· Take out travel insurance adequate for your medical history that will provide cover for all the activities you intend to do at your destination
· Check the FCO’s Travel Advice on your destination by calling 0845 850 2829
· Visit your GP at least 6 weeks before you travel
· Familiarise yourself with the laws and customs of your destination(s).
· Make copies of your important documents and travel information including passport, credit card cancellation numbers and travel insurance reference details.
· Tell someone where you are going and leave your emergency contact details with them.
· Have access to emergency funds
