If you’re in the fortunate position of being able to buy a holiday home, there are a number of factors you may wish to consider before you settle on a property.
If you are buying for yourself, there are various lifestyle factors you may want to take into account. How close is the beach? Are there good restaurants and bars nearby? If you plan on returning to the UK regularly, the proximity of the nearest airport will also be very important.
Equally, being close to museums, theatres, cinemas and supermarkets will help to make life as enjoyable as possible. If you like sport, look out for nearby tennis courts or golf courses. If you have children, you may want to see if there is any children’s entertainment around, aside from any local beach.
For future renters
While the above features will also be important to any tenants you welcome into your property, there are a number of other things would-be renters may seek. Among these are balconies and terraces, swimming pools, wifi access, air conditioning, Jacuzzis, saunas and parking availability. Even if some of these features are not so important to you, if you do plan to rent out your property, most people will see these as plus points. The more of them you have, the easier it will be to rent out your holiday home – as many of our holiday home insurance customers have discovered.
