A landlord of let property in Bristol has been fined £6,500 with £1,500 costs for breaching the gas safety regulations.  He replaced a gas boiler at a buy to let property even though he was not on the Gas Safe Register.  As well as that, the Court found that he had not had an annual safety check carried out for 2010.

The chief executive of the Gas Safe Register, Paul Johnson said that tenants’ lives had been put in danger.

The gas safety regulations have been in force for several years and there is plenty of information about them on the web.  Landlords must make sure that a Gas Safe engineer carries out any work and they should also keep all the paperwork, including for the annual safety check.
